This week on Love Beats and Brew, we brewed up something deeply personal - and super special. In our latest episode, “Legacy in Motion: Reflections with Lex” we sat down with someone who quite literally carries our name and more importantly our heart: our daughter, Elexus.
It’s not every day that you get to hold a mic up to your own legacy and hear her speak back with so much grace, wisdom , humor and growth. From laughs and light heartiness to top favorite rappers we deep dive into reflection questions about family and relationships and our journeys into self - love, growth, and what it means to honor where you come from while building something all your own.

☕️ 🎶 🎧Coffee Orders & Vibes! 🎧 🎶 ☕️
Before we got deep, we kept it true to our style: good vibes, laughter and finding out what was fueling Elexus these days. Her go to coffee order (which she let us know she stopped drinking coffee) and put us on to her favorite tea instead which was a London Fog! ( Black tea, cinnamon, creamer and liquid sugar)
We followed up and put Lex on the spot and asked her who she had in heavy rotation currently as her fave R&B or Hip Hop Artists and she dropped, J Herbo, Larry June, Kendrick Lamar and Kanye but gave Kendrick the crown for who she is currently pulling for first. She had some other suggestions too, but you’ll have to tune in to catch them.
💭Questions That Had Us all Reflecting 💭
This episode was about more than music and memories though, together, we explored powerful questions that shape not just relationships - but more importantly how we see ourselves and it got DEEP, so deep in fact that Ibrahim had to get up out of his seat at one point! We still haven’t figured out if it was due to technical difficulties or because it really did get that deep!
A few of the questions we explored were:
Am I showing up for myself the way I expect others to show up for me?
Do I know the difference between being love and being needed?
We spent so much time digging into those two, we didn’t even have a chance to explore the other three! I guess we’ll have to bring back Lex for a part two! (More to come!)

For us, this episode wasn’t just about a conversation, it was about living examples of our journey together as parents and one of our four daughters. This was a capture of watching how our daughter stands on her own in this world with strength and softness that makes us both so proud and excited for what is more to come!

Legacy starts in how we treat ourselves, it then becomes how we treat others. We flow into love, and create dreams together, as family, as friends, as a soul tribe.
